Ultrasound and Other Updates!

So...Jake and I went to my ultrasound appointment yesterday. It's was cool to see our little baby again. He/ she has my nose! It's amazing. We got quite a scare though when the radiologist told us that she saw a cyst on the baby's brain. She said she wasn't too concerned though because everything else looked normal. But of course I was scared and worried as much as I tried not to be. But I got a hold of my ob/gyn this morning and she spoke with the ultrasound doc and she gave me some reassurance. She said the baby has what is called a choroid plexus cyst (two of them) which are located in the non-thinking part of the baby's brain. She said the cysts are small which is awesome news because there is usually only cause for concern when the cyst is greater than 1cm. When the cysts are large there is a risk of the baby having Trisomy 18 or Edward's Syndrome. I asked her if the cysts could grow and she said they normally don't and in most cases it's just something the baby has from conception but doesn't cause any problems. Jake and I have an appointment with a genetic counselor on the 14th just to answer any other questions we might have and another ultrasound May 26th. I guess this is where I need to trust that God has a plan for us and even though speaking with my doc gave me some relief I still can't help but worrying a little. I just praise God that so far everything seems to be ok! It's been a pretty overwhleming 24 hours! We will put up ultrasound pics on sunday after we find out if our baby is a he or a she! Can't wait!

Update

So I'm in my fourth month now and I just wanted to say that I have been feeling much better the last few days and I hope this keeps up! Doctor's appointment coming up March 25th and we find out the sex on April 1st!

Doctor's Appointment and Other Stuff

Well I tried to get the video of the baby's heartbeat posted onto my blog but it was taking FOREVER so I just said forget it! But for those of you who haven't seen it yet I believe you can access it from my Facebook page under my links or just go to You Tube and type in "baby Sharpe ultrasound". So! My last doctor's appointment went really well. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat again, but other than that it was pretty uneventful. My doctor says that the next few appointments will probably be that way. :) My doctor also told me not to go by the September 1st due date that the ultrasound tech gave me and to stick to my original due date of August 25th. Yay! That means I'm 15 weeks as of yesterday. Jake and I took some "belly" pictures last night and I was going to post them but I decided that I don't really care for the pictures...I still feel like I look more chunky than pregnant! Not a cute feeling. So belly pics will come a little later. Maybe. And I have to say that I've been feeling a little better the last few days. Minimal nausea, which is awesome! So hopefully I'm getting past the feeling sick part of the pregnancy. My next doctor's appointment is March 25th and I absolutely can not wait for my next ultrasound appointment on April 1st! We should be finding out the sex of the baby then. Woo hoo!!

The First Ultrasound

So...it's been a while since I've blogged about the pregnancy. I'm not much of a blogger so bear with me! But I had my first ultrasound appointment on February 17th and it was such an awesome experience (other than having some issues trying to find the doofy building!). Jake was able to come which I was really excited about since he hadn't been able to come to the doctor's appointment where I got to hear the baby's heartbeat. The ultrasound tech took lots of pictures and even a short video. It still amazes me to see that tiny little heartbeat. :) I really, really wanted to ask the ultrasound tech if she could try and see what the sex of the baby is (some other friends told me I should ask) but she told me from the beginning that we weren't going to be determining the baby's sex. Just looking to make sure the baby was healthy. They told me that I was only 12 weeks ( I thought I was 13 weeks, boo!!) and they gave me a new due date of September 1st. We got a CD with our baby's pics and the video and my next appointment is scheduled for April 1st. So only a few more weeks and we should know the sex! I say it's a boy... but you never know! I had another doctor's appointment on February 25th, but I will blog about that later!

Doctor's Appointment

So I went to the doctor today and I'm very excited because I got to hear Baby's heartbeat! It was pretty cool. I didn't cry or anything (people keep asking if i did) but for a split second I felt like I might. I still think it hasn't completely hit me yet. I was bummed that I didn't have Jake come with me but I wasn't sure what all was going to be done at the appointment. My first ultrasound is scheduled for February 15th so Jake will come with me then for sure! But other than hearing the heartbeat the rest of the visit was pretty uneventful. My blood work came back good and I had a few random questions for the doctor. I just can't wait to actually SEE this baby!

Hormonal Cry Session

So I had my first hormonal cry session today. I woke up feeling sick to my stomach so I ate some toast and fruit which helped me to feel a little less queezy. So I started getting ready for church but began to feel sick again so I called Jake to have him pick me up some 7-Up after his morning band practice at church. I sat on the couch after he got home, drinking my 7-Up, feeling a little better again, talking about baby names when it just hit me. I got upset because I realized that today is Sunday and I don't want to work tomorrow and then I got more upset because I decided that I don't want to work ever again (and unfortunately I have to) and i just started crying. Lucky for me that Jake has always been good at consoling me when I'm upset. He just let me cry it all out then told me I should probably take the day off from church. So that's what I'm doing. :) And I think I feel a migraine coming on. Which is just lovely. What a day... and I've only been up for 4 hours...

New to this blog thing...

Well... I'm starting this blog for my best buddy Mel, and for my sis-in-law, Krystal, (both live not in fresno) because I know they will be wanting to know ALL the pregnancy details. :) But I've never done this blog stuff before so hopefully as I do it more often I will get better at it. So my husband Jake and I found out I was pregnant on December 27th. We had been trying for a few months and then decided in November sometime that we would wait a few more years. So I was actually surprised when the preg. test came out positive. I had my first doctor's appointment on December 31st, which went well. They just repeated the preg. test and did a pap (ugh), and I have to get some blood work done before my next appointment on the 28th of this month. Hopefully I will get to hear the baby's heartbeat on my next visit! I haven't had any terrible pregnancy symptoms yet... just a few stomach aches and some food aversions (I think that's what they're called). No pizza and no Mexican food! Yuck! Being pregnant feels a little unreal at this point, but we're excited (and definitely blessed) and our family and friends are too.
